Import Market Access Advisory Group
Other format
This information is also available in the following format:
The IMAAG is a high level group within the department which:
- assigns (and, when warranted, re-assigns) priorities to import proposals
- advises Biosecurity Australia of the priorities assigned to import proposals and
- monitors progress of Biosecurity Australia’s work program.
In assigning priority to an import proposal, the IMAAG considers matters relating to Australia’s national interest, the exporting country priority and practical considerations.
The Chief Executive of Biosecurity Australia develops Biosecurity Australia’s work program taking account of the priority assigned by the IMAAG and the available resources and expertise.
Advice to Biosecurity Australia
In order to ensure its advice to Biosecurity Australia on the priority of import proposals is up to date, the IMAAG meets quarterly.
The IMAAG provided its advice to Biosecurity Australia on the priority of import proposals on 11 March 2010, considering formal proposals received between 20 October 2009 to 19 January 2010. Proposals and amendments made since this date are being considered at present and will be reflected in subsequent advice to Biosecurity Australia.
