Assistance for Businesses Affected by Reduced Fishing Activity

The third and final round of Onshore Business Assistance under the Securing our Fishing Future (SOFF) package opened on 2 October 2007. Applications must be received in the correct format as outlined in the application form by no later than 4pm AEDST 31 October 2007.

To date 82 businesses have been awarded funding under the Onshore Business Assistance program.

Onshore Business Assistance is being provided to assist businesses that are significantly affected by reduced fishing activity as a result of the SOFF package.

There are two forms of assistance:

  • Onshore Business Development Assistance is targeted towards helping those businesses that offer the greatest potential for strengthening Australia's onshore sector.

Applications can be for any amount up to $250,000.

  • Onshore Business Exit Assistance is being provided to help eligible owners diversify their operations. It may be used to start up entirely new businesses in a different sector, or to help fund their retirement from the fishing related sector.

Applications can be for any amount up to $100,000.
