The Government Division delivers policy analysis, coordination, advice and support services to the minister, the minister’s office, DAFF executive and divisions.  Its work includes secretariat functions, parliamentary support and communications.

Parliamentary Business

The Ministerial and Parliamentary branch liaises with and supports the minister and his offices and advises on and manages parliamentary business and workflow for the minister, the Executive and the broader department. It provides advice and training on departmental, APS and ministerial standard requirements.

Communication

This branch is responsible for all departmental communciations including media liaison, internal communications, communications strategies, marketing and production of online and print publications.

Portfolio Strategy and Coordination

This branch delivers strategic advice and secretariat support for a range of forums, including ministerial councils and related processes, and the department’s executive management team, Import Market Access Advisory Group (IMAAG), Eminent Scientists Group (ESG) and the Import Risk Analysis Appeals Panel (IRAAP). It also undertakes a range of portfolio coordination activities including appointments, legislation and deregulation.
