Border
AQIS has put in place pre-arrival reporting requirements for all incoming international flights. The Chief Medical Officer and Australian Health Protection Committee will continue to provide advice to government on what further border measures may be required.
Pig meat
There is no evidence to suggest that Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 can be transmitted to people through eating pig meat.
Piggeries
Outbreaks of pandemic H1N1 (2009) influenza virus in pigs have occurred in western New South Wales, northern Victoria and south-east Queensland. These outbreaks are in commercial piggeries.
In all cases the symptoms observed have been mild and pigs have recovered quickly. Authorities continue to use procedures consistent with the latest advice from the World Health Organization.
