Agriculture Advancing Australia

In line with the government’s election commitment to focus on preparing primary industries to manage the impact of climate change, $130 million will be invested in the new Australia’s Farming Future initiative. This is one of the Australian Government’s key initiatives for primary industries. It will provide $130 million over four years to help primary producers adapt and respond to climate change.

The AAA programs - Farm Help, FarmBis and Advancing Agricultural Industries were identified for conclusion so funding could be redirected to Australia’s Farming Future. The AAA package concluded on 30 June 2008 with these three programs within it concluding their current commitments throughout the 2008-09 financial year.

The Rural Financial Counselling Service Program, the International Agricultural Cooperation Program and the Farm Management Deposits Scheme will continue independently of the AAA package.

AAA was an integrated package of Australian Government programs designed to help primary producers in agriculture, fishing and forestry to be more competitive, sustainable and profitable.

AAA programs provided:

  • funding for business and natural resource management training and education
  • financial management tools
  • financial information and referral
  • funding for professional advice, skills development and training
  • assistance for farm families in serious financial difficulty
  • improved access to markets
