Advancing Agricultural Industries Program

The Advancing Agricultural Industries program commenced on 1 July 2007 and was the successor to the Industry Partnerships Program.
The program will cease on 30 June 2008 and is in wind-down phase. Only residual current projects
will continue through to completion. No further funding calls will be made under the program.

The Advancing Agricultural Industries program aimed to help primary industries develop their self-reliance, resilience and ability to efficiently manage change. Through the program, industries could identify challenges and opportunities and address them by developing and implementing industry-led strategies.

The Program also provided individual development opportunities for women, young people and Indigenous Australians, enabling them to further their contributions to their industries and communities.

The four components of the program were:

  • Advancing Agriculture Fund (AgFund) - provided up to $50,000 to producer groups to target industry issues at the local and regional level.
  • Industry Stocktakes – provided up to $200,000 to help agriculture, fisheries and forest industries identify their strengths and weaknesses, and challenges and opportunities, and plan for how to best manage them.
  • Action Grants – provided up to $1 million in matching funds to help industries build their structural and organisational capacity and tackle identified industry issues.
  • Rural Leadership Development – aimed to increase the skills, knowledge and profile of women, Indigenous and young people working in the agriculture, fisheries, forestry, natural resource management and food processing industries.
