Overview
FarmBis Australia provided grants to industry associations and companies to develop new learning activities to enhance the business management skills of Australia's primary industry sector.
FarmBis Australia was announced as part of the extended AAA - Agriculture Advancing Australia package in the 2000-2001 Federal Budget. The program aimed to increase the competitiveness, profitability and sustainability of Australia's agricultural industries.
FarmBis Australia focussed on the education, training and skills development needs of agricultural industries rather than individual business requirements. The program complemented the successful Commonwealth/State FarmBis program, which provides subsidies to individual primary producers to attend business and natural resource management training. In assessing applications for funding FarmBis Australia placed emphasis on projects that provided benefits to more than one State, and/or had wide industry application.
Applicants were expected to make a direct financial contribution to the cost of their project, with projects demonstrating a high level of financial contribution given preference. Applicants were encouraged to obtain financial commitments from other organisations with a commitment to the project.
Three grant rounds have been conducted under the FarmBis Australia program. The following funding announcements provide information on the successful applicants.
