Courses
Through the Enhancing Entrepreneurial Skills Course, 31 innovative business managers aged 18-35 were given an opportunity to enhance their management skills, influence their business environment and build effective relationships with key supply chain stakeholders. They explored issues influencing domestic and international markets for agricultural, fisheries and forestry products.
The Pathways to Rural Leadership Course was a four-day intensive leadership skills development opportunity for people aged 18-35 years working in agriculture, fisheries, forestry and related industries (such as natural resource management and food processing). Participants put their leadership knowledge and skills into practice in a challenging and interactive course environment that brought together expert presenters and industry speakers.
NGO Partnership Grants
The NGO Partnership Grants assisted non-government organisations (NGOs) to target rural women and young people to develop and build strategic alliances with industry. Funding was provided to assist organisations to:
- develop strategic linkages with industry in projects of mutual interest
- provide leadership in supporting the management of change in the rural sector
- enhance operations through improved communications, information dissemination and strengthening of community networks
- focus on their future needs and plan for ways to become self sufficient.
Foundation of Australian Agricultural Women: supported workshops that trained women to better participate in industry and community debate; and actively manage change in rural industries. Value of project: $40 000 (GST exclusive).
Future Farmers Network: provided opportunities for young people to interact directly with industry groups at forums in each state and the Northern Territory, to increase the participation of young people in industry decision making. Value of project: $40 000 (GST exclusive).
Cotton Australia: aimed to increase the contribution of young people through a training program for up to 30 young people, run over six months, which included face-to-face workshops and practical exercises. Value of project: $40 000 (GST exclusive).
United Dairyfarmers of Victoria: aimed to address the issues of succession planning and provide a pathway for young people who aspire to leadership roles. Value of project: Value of project: $40 000 (GST exclusive).
