Codex Consultative Processes - a survey of State/Territory health and agriculture agencies 2003

DAFF commissioned a stakeholder needs analysis of the processed food industry. The study sought to determine levels of awareness and participation of the processed food industry in Codex consultative processes. The intention was to identify industry impediments to effective consultation and to provide a range of options likely to enhance the process. A wide range of processed food industry stakeholders took part including food industry associations and businesses, research institutions, and Commonwealth and State/Territory Governments.

In addition, DAFF undertook a survey of the State/Territory health and agriculture departments regarding Codex processes. The survey examined levels of awareness of Australia’s consultative mechanism, the extent to which jurisdictions coordinate responses between agencies on Codex issues, and the degree to which State/Territory agencies consult with industry.
