5th Codex Stakeholder Forum
The 5th Codex Australia Industry Stakeholder Forum will be held from 27-28 August 2008 at the Jasper Hotel in Melbourne.
About the forum
The forum has become an annual event that focuses on the role and importance of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (Codex) for Australia’s agriculture-food industry.
The key objective of these forums is to enhance the ability of food producing industries to contribute to Australia's input to the work of Codex and to identify measures that will assist government in representing the interests of industry across the work of Codex committees.
The forum will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to fully engage in the Codex consultation process for the committees/issues that are relevant to their interest and to put forward their views on Codex issues.

On the afternoon of Wednesday 27 August, Codex Australia will conduct a session ‘Overview of Codex and Australian Consultation Processes,’ designed for people new to Codex Australia’s consultative processes or those who wish to refresh their understanding of how Codex operates. This session will be followed by a networking drinks function.
During the main program, to be held on Thursday 28 August, stakeholders will receive a report on the year in review and be provided with advice on what the government sees as priority issues for the next 12 months.
This year we will also be holding break-out sessions on specific issues.
