South East Alice Springs
From 14 June 2007, all producers in the South East Alice Springs area are eligible to apply for EC income support payments and interest rate subsidies.
Agriculture-dependent small business operators who derive 70 per cent of their turnover from agriculture in any prima facie declared area are also eligible to apply for assistance.
Note: If your small business: is located in a town that is substantially reliant on farm incomes and has a population of 10,000 or less; and is in an EC area (including prima facie and interim assistance areas); and can demonstrate a significant downturn in income due to the drought, you may be eligible for assistance.
Producers and agriculture-dependent small business operators should not self-assess their eligibility for income support but should call the Drought Assistance Hotline on 13 23 16.

Area Description
The South East Alice Springs Area covers 171,000 km2 and commences at a point on the Northern Territory-South Australia border situated at meridian of East Longitude 132 degrees 56 minutes 15 seconds; thence north by the said meridian to parallel of South Latitude 24 degrees 9 minutes; thence north-easterly to the intersection of meridian of East Longitude 135 degrees 39 minutes 40 seconds with parallel of South Latitude 22 degrees 28 minutes; thence east by the said parallel to the Northern Territory-Queensland border; thence southerly by the part of the said border and westerly by part of the Northern Territory-South Australia border to the point of commencement.
Buffer Zone
An 80km buffer zone extends to the west, north-west and north of the area.
