Walgett-Coonamble
The exceptional circumstances declaration for the Walgett, Coonamble area was recently extended by
the Hon. Tony Burke MP, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
All producers in the declared area are eligible to apply for income support payments and interest rate subsidies.
Agriculture-dependent small business operators who derive 70 per cent of their turnover from agriculture in any EC declared area are also eligible to apply for income support payments and interest rate subsidies.
Producers and small business operators should not self-assess their eligibility for income support but should call the Drought Assistance Hotline on 13 23 16.Note: If your small business: is located in a town that is substantially reliant on farm incomes and has a population of 10,000 or less; and is in an EC area (including prima facie and interim assistance areas); and can demonstrate a significant downturn in income due to the drought, you may be eligible for assistance.

Area Description
The Walgett-Coonamble EC declared area covers the Rural Lands Protection Boards (RLPBs) of Walgett; Divisions A, B and D of Coonamble RLPB as well as part of Division C north and east of a line commencing with the intersection of the southern RLPB boundary and the Gulargambone to Quambone Road at Gulargambone, then by that road north-west to a road running south-west through the property "Glenanaar" and the property "Mayfield", to the western boundary of the RLPB at Marthaguy Creek; Division A of the Narrabri RLPB and that part of Division B south of the road from Wee Waa to Burren Junction; and that part of Coonabarabran RLPB that is north and west of a line formed by the northern boundary of the RLPB with the Newell Highway and by that highway south to Number One Break Road west to Cumbil Road, south to the Baradine- Gwabegar Road, through Baradine to the Gulargambone-Baradine Road, south-west to a road approximately 2.3 kilometres west of Goorianawa Gap, south to Box Ridge Road and then west by that road to the western boundary of the RLPB.
