The Exceptional Circumstances Declaration for this area will cease on 15 June 2008
From 7 December 2006, all producers in the Hinchinbrook-Thuringowadeclared area are eligible to apply for income support payments and interest rate subsidies.
Agriculture-dependent small business operators who derive 70 per cent of their turnover from agriculture in any EC declared area are also eligible to apply for assistance.
Note: If your small business: is located in a town that is substantially reliant on farm incomes and has a population of 10,000 or less; and is in an EC area (including prima facie and interim assistance areas); and can demonstrate a significant downturn in income due to the drought, you may be eligible for assistance.
Producers and small business operators should not self-assess their eligibility for income support but should call the Drought Assistance Hotline on 13 23 16.

Area Description
The Hinchinbrook-Thuringowa EC declared area covers the Herbert River sugar cane productivity zones 1-7 in the southern part of Hinchinbrook Shire and the northern part of the Thuringowa Shire, and productivity zones 11 and 12 on the Stone River in the Hinchinbrook Shire.
The area is bounded in the north by the Township of Allingham, Forrest Beach in the east, due west to Palm Creek and follows the creek to Bosworth's Road, along Bosworth's Road to the northern boundary of productivity zone 6, along the northern boundary of productivity zone 6 to the junction with the eastern boundary of productivity zone 7, along the northern boundary of productivity zone 7 to Warren's Hill Road through to the township of Ingham and from Ingham south along the Bruce Highway to Cattle Creek then west around the boundaries of productivity zones 8, 9, 10 and 13 to Wallamin Falls Road through to the boundary with Dalrymple Shire in Wallamin Falls National Park. The area is bounded in the west by the Dalrymple Shire boundary, in the south by the Rollingstone border of State Forest 34, the Clement Forest Reserve and Paluma Range National Park in Thuringowa Shire.
