Southern Murweh
The Exceptional Circumstances Declaration for this area will cease on 15 June 2008
From 24 October 2006, all producers in the Southern Murweh declared area are eligible to apply for income support payments and interest rate subsidies.Agriculture-dependent small business operators who derive 70 per cent of their turnover from agriculture in any EC declared area are also eligible to apply for assistance .
Note: If your small business: is located in a town that is substantially reliant on farm incomes and has a population of 10,000 or less; and is in an EC area (including prima facie and interim assistance areas); and can demonstrate a significant downturn in income due to the drought, you may be eligible for assistance.
Producers and small business operators should not self-assess their eligibility for income support but should call the Drought Assistance Hotline on 13 23 16.

Area Description
The Southern Murweh EC declared area covers the southern parts of the Murweh Shire, bounded in the north by the Angellala Creek from the Booringa Shire boundary to the Warrego Highway, the Warrego Highway to Charleville and the Charleville-Adavale Road to the Quilpie Shire boundary; bounded in the south and west by the South West Queensland EC area that was declared on 5 February 2003; and bounded in the east by the Western Downs-Maranoa EC area declared on 17 April 2003.
Buffer Zone
A Buffer Zone applies to eligible farmers whose properties are wholly or partly within seven kilometre of the area. (Note: the Buffer Zone applies to the northern portion only as the western, eastern and southern Buffer Zone areas lie within the Western Downs-Maranoa and the South West Queensland EC areas.)
