Western Downs Maranoa Revised

Exceptional circumstances for the Western Downs Maranoa Revised declared area was recently announced by the Hon. Tony Burke MP, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. Assistance is available until 15 June 2010.

The Western Downs Maranoa Revised EC declared area includes the boundary east along the Balonne and Moonie Highways from the Paroo Shire boundary to 150E longitude, which is followed north to the northern boundary of the former Murilla Shire, which is followed northeast to the Dalby Regional Council Boundary, which is followed west and south to the Pine Hills Road which is followed south to the Wallumbilla North Road, which is also followed south to Wallumbilla.  The Warrego Highway is followed west to the Murweh Shire boundary, which is then followed south to the Paroo Shire boundary which is followed south to the Ballonne Highway.

All producers in the Western Downs-Maranoa Revised exceptional circumstances (EC) declared area are eligible to apply for income support payments and interest rate subsidies*.

Agriculture-dependent small business operators who derive 70 per cent of their turnover from agriculture in any EC declared area are also eligible to apply for income support payments and interest rate subsidies.

Note: If your small business: is located in a town that is substantially reliant on farm incomes and has a population of 10,000 or less; and is in an EC area (including prima facie areas); and can demonstrate a significant downturn in income due to the drought, you may be eligible for assistance.

Producers and small business operators should not self-assess their eligibility for income support but should call the Drought Assistance Hotline on 13 23 16.
