Mid-North

The exceptional circumstances declaration for the Mid-North will cease on 31 March 2010.

All producers in the Mid-North exceptional circumstances (EC) declared area are eligible to apply for income support payments and interest rate subsidies*.

Agriculture-dependent small business operators who derive 70 per cent of their turnover from agriculture in any EC declared area are also eligible to apply for income support payments and interest rate subsidies.

Note: If your small business: is located in a town that is substantially reliant on farm incomes and has a population of 10,000 or less; and is in an EC area (including prima facie areas); and can demonstrate a significant downturn in income due to the drought, you may be eligible for assistance.

Producers and small business operators should not self-assess their eligibility for income support but should call the Drought Assistance Hotline on 13 23 16.

Area Description

The Mid-North EC declared area is defined as the land enclosed by:

The Northern boundary is comprised of the southern boundary of the Hundred of Telowie, those portions of the Hundreds of Telowie, Baroota and Winninowie east of the Lower Flinders Ranges escarpment, the south east portion of the Hundred of Woolundunga south of where the Horrocks Pass road abuts the Hundred of Winninowie to the eastern border of the Hundred of Woolundunga, the portion of the Hundred of Willochra south and west of the Horrocks Pass and Wilmington-Melrose roads, the portion of the Hundred of Gregory to the west of the Wilmington-Melrose and Moultons roads, the portion of the Hundred of Wongyarra south and west of the Blinmans and Melrose-Black Rock roads, the portion of the Hundred of Booleroo south of the Melrose-Black Rock road, the portion of the Hundred of Pekina south of the Melrose-Black Rock and Pekina-Yongala roads, the portion of the Hundred of Black Rock Plain south and west of the Pekina-Yongala road, the portion of the Hundred of Mannanarie south and west of Depot, Langs, Stock and Torre roads and south of the Mannanarie-Yongala road east of Torre road, the portion of the Hundred of Yongala south of Pekina-Yongala and Yongala-Whyte-Yarcowie roads, the portions of the Hundred of Whyte south of the Yongala-Whyte-Yarcowie roads and west of the Barrier Highway.

The Eastern Boundary being and included within the area, the Hundreds of Hallett, Kingston and Kooringa, the portions of the Hundreds of Baldina, King, Bundey and Maude south of the Burra-Morgan road and the Hundreds of Beatty, Brownlow, Anna and Jellicoe.

The Southern and Western boundaries being and included within the area, the District Councils of Copper Coast, Barunga West, Mallala, the Regional Councils of Wakefield and Port Pirie all in their entirety and the southern boundary of the Northern Areas Council and the south-western boundary of the Regional Council of Goyder and the western boundary of the portion of the Hundred of Dutton within the Mid Murray Council Area.

The portion of the Hundred of Appila east of the Yandiah-Pine Creek road and the portion of the of the Hundred of Tarcowie west of the Tarcowie-Caltowie road and south of the Booleroo-Tarcowie road are excluded.
