Mallee - Northern Wimmera revised
An extension of exceptional circumstances assistance was recently announced for the Mallee - Northern Wimmera revised area by
the Hon. Tony Burke MP, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
All producers in the former Mallee - Northern Wimmera (incl. Annex) EC-declared area, and producers in parts of the former Eastern Mallee, Mallee South-East and Murray EC-declared areas are eligible to apply for income support payments and interest rate subsidies.
Agriculture-dependent small business operators who derive 70 per cent of their turnover from agriculture in any EC-declared area are also eligible to apply for assistance.
Note: If your small business: is located in a town that is substantially reliant on farm incomes and has a population of 10,000 or less; and is in an EC area (including prima facie and interim assistance areas); and can demonstrate a significant downturn in income due to the drought, you may be eligible for assistance.
Producers and small business operators should not self-assess their eligibility for income support but should call the Drought Assistance Hotline on 13 23 16.

Area Description
The Mallee - Northern Wimmera revised declaration covers all freehold land in the Local Government Areas of Mildura, Swan Hill and Buloke. The declaration also covers Local Government Area of Yarriambiack north of the Wimmera Highway; and all public land leased for farming purposes in the Local Government Area of Hindmarsh.
The southern boundary follows the Wimmera Highway from its Junction with Northern Grampians Shire to Horsham. From Horsham the boundary proceeds west along Wimmera Highway approx 4km prior to where the Natimuk boundary meets the Wimmera River, north along the Wimmera River to the junction of the Wail State Forest boundary, west along the boundary of the Wail State Forest, where the Forest ends at the junction of Lawloit Track proceed north to where the Lawloit Track becomes the Pine Hill Road and the junction of Lawloit road and Pine Hills Road; from Lawloit, left along the Western Highway through Kaniva and 2km past to Lillimur; from Lillimur right into Lillimu-Yearinga Road which becomes the Murrawong Road, north to the Murrawong Rd for approx 26km to intersection with Eagerly Road, east along Edgerley Road for approx 7km to the junction with Boundary Road, north for 16km to the intersection with Sanders Road, right into Sanders Road and travel approx 4km to the Big Desert Wilderness Park where it meets the South Australian Border.
