2000 Evaluation of the Rural Communities Program
In 2000, the Social Sciences Centre of the Bureau of Rural Sciences was commissioned by Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry - Australia and the Department of Transport and Regional Services to evaluate the RCP, a program they jointly administered. The program encouraged ‘diverse, dynamic and self-reliant communities and profitable and sustainable rural industries’. The RCP provided funding to community groups in rural and regional Australia on a competitive application basis.
The evaluation examined program performance and future directions and options for change. The evaluation team made a series of recommendations in its report.
