What we do
Within the Department the role of the Wine Policy Section is:
- to provide domestic and international policy advice to the Government in relation to wine grape growing and winemaking industries
- to maintain a close liaison with industry representatives and represent the Department, as appropriate, with stakeholders at the International, Commonwealth and State level
- the preparation of relevant documentation, including Ministerial and departmental correspondence, briefings, media releases, speeches and replies to Parliamentary Questions.
What we do not do is provide technical and viticultural advice on grape growing or oenological advice for wine makers. Viticultural advice is best sought from your state agricultural department, while advice concerning wine making is more properly provided through your local professional association.
