International Wine Policy

Our international role covers trade and market access issues for the wine industry. We have a direct current involvement with two major trade groups, the European Union and the World Wine Trade Group. In partnership with the Trade Policy area of the Department we have an active role in negotiating international treaties with both these trade groups.

An officer of the wine policy section represents Australia at the International Organisation of Vine and Wine, the international body representing the interests of grape growers and wine makers worldwide.

We also liaise with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and our agricultural representatives in various overseas posts on all issues covering wine trade at the international level.
