Rural R&D Council - Communique 25 May 2009
The Rural R&D Council held its second meeting in Canberra on 19 and 20 May 2009.
The council received presentations from the Bureau of Rural Sciences, the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics, CSIRO Plant Industry, the Primary Industries Standing Committee R&D Sub-committee and program and policy staff from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
Over the coming months, the council will continue to consult with key stakeholders to seek their views on strategic issues facing the agriculture, fisheries and forestry sector and the research and development response needed.
These presentations and consultations will help inform the council’s advice to the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and preparation of the strategic investment plan that is one of its major Terms of Reference.
The council will hold its next meeting in August 2009.
