Market Access and Trade
To foster growth of Australia's dairy export competitive industries dairy international area will:
- identify and pursue portfolio dairy industry market access issues at bilateral level, including through the effective use of the market Development Taskforce
- develop co-ordinated and coherent portfolio dairy industry trade strategies for the agricultural negotiations, and advocate support in international forums including the OECD, APEC and FAO
- advance dairy portfolio industry interests through developing closer agribusiness links with key trading partners
- make progress toward freer fairer and market oriented trading conditions for dairy products, putting agriculture on the same footing as trade in other products
Dairy Products Market Access
To support and improve Australia's position as a major dairy exporter, AFFA monitors and remains responsive to ongoing and emerging issues in dairy market access around the world. It consults widely with other government agencies and the dairy industry on market access issues in the spheres of market access development as well as market access defence. As well as providing quality advice to the Minister on these issues, AFFA may represent Australia at negotiations in multilateral and bilateral arenas or provide briefing contributions for such fora.
