About Us

The Red Meat and Livestock Section is part of the Meat, Wool and Dairy Branch in the Food and Agriculture Division of the Department. The Section’s main focus is policy delivery, which involves:

  • Developing policy and providing advice to the Australian Government on issues affecting the red meat and livestock industry.
  • Liaising between industry and the Australian Government on legislative and structural matters.
  • Managing quota arrangements that apply to regulated red meat and dairy markets.
  • Policy and legislative matters relating to red meat levies.
