National Wool Alliance

The National Wool Alliance (NWA) arose out of the joint work of the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Resource Management (SCARM) and the Agriculture and Resource Management Council of Australian and New Zealand (ARMCANZ). Under the NWA, the Commonwealth has joined an existing group of State Wool Strategy Leaders to coordinate a national wool strategy. Membership of the NWA includes the State Government Departments, the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and industry bodies.

The objectives of the NWAare to coordinate a national wool strategy aimed at integrating wool and natural resource management programs for more effective utilisation of resources. In doing so, the NWA provides a framework for cross-jurisdiction coordination on both policy and program work impacting on the Wool industry. It ensures there is greater liaison and communication between jurisdictions, resulting in more effective outcomes for resource-constrained agencies.
