Sugar

Raw sugar is consistently one of Australia's leading farm export commodities. Australia exports around 80 per cent of total production and is the world’s second largest exporter of raw sugar. The sugar industry is also a major focus of the economies in many regional towns.

Sugarcane is produced along Australia’s high-rainfall coastal plains on the east coast from north of Grafton in New South Wales to Mossman in far north Queensland. Queensland produces around 95 per cent of Australia’s raw sugar while NSW produces around 5 per cent.
