Sub-Committee on Emergency Animal Disease SCEAD
SCEAD was established in 2005 as a sub-committee of the AHC.
SCEAD’s responsibilities are operationally focussed and include:
- Develop, maintain and review nationally agreed standard operating procedures and systems for use during response to EAD incidents.
- Establish and maintain communication between agencies and jurisdictions with responsibilities for managing EAD responses.
- Contribute towards operational aspects of EAD response arrangements, through liaison with appropriate technical groups.
- Identify gaps in existing legislative frameworks that need to be addressed to facilitate a national approach to the management of EAD incidents.
SCEAD includes representation from each jurisdiction, is chaired by the AHC program leader for emergency animal diseases and meets at least once a year, face to face, and as required by teleconference.
