Sub-Committee on Emergency Animal Disease SCEAD

SCEAD was established in 2005 as a sub-committee of the AHC.

SCEAD’s responsibilities are operationally focussed and include:

  1. Develop, maintain and review nationally agreed standard operating procedures and systems for use during response to EAD incidents.

  2. Establish and maintain communication between agencies and jurisdictions with responsibilities for managing EAD responses.

  3. Contribute towards operational aspects of EAD response arrangements, through liaison with appropriate technical groups.

  4. Identify gaps in existing legislative frameworks that need to be addressed to facilitate a national approach to the management of EAD incidents.

SCEAD includes representation from each jurisdiction, is chaired by the AHC program leader for emergency animal diseases and meets at least once a year, face to face, and as required by teleconference.
