Emergency Disease Response and Coordination

The Biosecurity Services Group (BSG) leads the Australian Government in minimising the impact of pests, diseases and contaminants on Australian agriculture, fisheries and forestry.

As part of BSG, the Aquatic Animal Health Unit contributes to these outcomes by:

  • coordinating national activities to ensure a comprehensive, consistent and informed approach to preparedness and response activities for critical aquatic animal health incidents
  • participating in a number of high-level aquatic committees and taskforces
  • developing emergency disease response mechanisms for the protection of Australia's aquatic animal industries
  • conducting training, including Simulation Exercises.
