Locusts
Current news
The APLC undertakes monitoring of locust populations in inland eastern Australia and manages outbreaks that have the potential to inflict significant damage to agriculture in more than one member state as a result of population build-up and migration.
The APLC is jointly funded by the Australian Government and the member states of New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland.
The latest locust situation and forecast development dates are available on our current situation page. The Locust Bulletin provides details of known distributions and more detailed regional forecasts, along with distribution and recent rainfall maps. Information on how landholders can protect their crops and pastures is available in the GRDC plague locust control fact sheet.
This site has information on locusts in Australia and the activities of the APLC.
