Spotted something unusual? Report new weeds
The early reporting of new weeds in Australia is the key to successful eradication or containment. It can also prevent or minimise the costs associated with an incursion such as market losses, eradication, ongoing control and monitoring.
If you find a weed that you haven’t seen before, or suspect you have found a weed on the exotic weeds watch list, report it immediately. Call the Australia wide Exotic Plant Pest Hotline on 1800 084 881. All calls to the hotline are free except those from mobiles.
The hotline operates during normal business hours and will connect you to your local department of primary industries, agriculture, or natural resource management. Knowledgeable staff will be able to help you determine whether the weed you have found is new to Australia and provide you with advice on what to do.
The hotline is a national reporting service for individuals and groups working in Australia’s primary industries and plant health-related services. It is supported by: the state and territory departments of agriculture, primary industries and natural resource management, the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, and Plant Health Australia.
