AQIS: high profile on Border Security
There are 1.8 million viewers who watch Australia’s highest rating television program, Border Security, on a Monday evening. The program features staff from AQIS, Customs, and the Department of Immigration and Citizenship. It has been running since 2004.
AQIS border staff do a great job showcasing their mission every week with the program featuring AQIS officers engaging with members of the public, largely at airports.
The team at AQIS public relations have just completed an analysis of the program’s cost effectiveness and its ability to transfer the quarantine awareness message. They asked their research tracking company, Open Mind, to add three Border Security questions to their twice yearly surveys. They also worked with Channel Seven to try and come up with a dollar figure on the 'advertising value', were they to pay for this advertising space during this peak broadcast period.
The results were surprising. The 'advertising value' for AQIS is in the order of $8 million annually.
