Fails and non-conformities

If a vessel fails to meet AQIS requirements it will be subject to additional directions or corrective actions to address the quarantine risk.

A failure of the low quarantine risk will result in a vessel being given a non-conformity. If a vessel receives 3 non-conformities in one inspection, it will constitute an inspection failure. If a vessel has 3 subsequent non-conformities from 3 inspections, the 3rd non-conformity will constitute a failure.

A failure is a serious breach that requires immediate corrective action on behalf of the Master. A situation that warrants a failed inspection seriously undermines the quarantine integrity of the vessel. A failure impacts vessels eligibility for streamlined assessment through initiatives such as Pratique Documentary Clearance (PDC).

All international vessels may be subject to surveillance inspections on succeeding days at the first port of arrival and subsequent port/s of call to ensure continued compliance with all quarantine directions.
