What are proclaimed ports?

Proclaimed ports are ports that have been proclaimed as a first port of entry under the
Quarantine Proclamation Act 1998.

By law, vessels arriving in Australia by sea must arrive in a first port of entry.

Vessels intending to visit ports not listed below (non-proclaimed) must make an application in writing to the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service 10 days prior to the estimated time of arrival.
