Category 2: 30 days quarantine in Australia
Cats and dogs from the following countries can be imported to Australia, provided that they meet all of the AQIS import requirements.

- French Polynesia (includes Tahiti, Society Islands, Marquesas Islands, Austral Islands, Tuamotu Islands, Gambier Islands)
- Guam
- Hawaii
- Iceland
- the Republic of Ireland
- Japan
- Malta
- Mauritius
- New Caledonia
- Norway
- Singapore
- Sweden
- Taiwan
- the United Kingdom
- Vanuatu

Please read through the information package thoroughly before contacting the Live Animal Imports Program or the nearest AQIS office for any further questions you may have about the importation process.
Cats and dogs must spend the quarantine period in one of the three government animal quarantine stations located in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
Information about the quarantine stations can be viewed at quarantine station accommodation.
No additional documentation, vaccinations or testing can be completed to reduce or avoid the quarantine period.
The import conditions applicable for other pets – such as birds and horses.
