Category 4: Quarantine period varies in Australia

Cats and dogs from the following countries can be imported to Australia, provided that they meet all of the AQIS import conditions.

The date of blood sampling for the rabies blood test will determine the amount of time the cat or dog must spend in Australian quarantine. Please refer to step 5 of the information package.

Please read through the information package thoroughly before contacting the Live Animal Imports Program or the nearest AQIS office for any further questions you may have about the importation process.

No additional documentation, vaccinations or testing can be completed to reduce or avoid the Australian quarantine period.

Cats and dogs must spend the Australian quarantine period in one of the three government animal quarantine stations equipped to accommodate cats and dogs. They are located in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

Import conditions relevant to other animals, such as birds and horses.
