Non-viable fish exports to India

Date of Issue: 15 January 2010

Date of Effect: 1 February 2010

Country: India

The Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) has successfully negotiated export health certification for non-viable frozen, chilled and smoked seafood with Indian authorities.

As of 1 February 2010, AQIS will be able to issue export certification via EXDOC for non-viable frozen, chilled and smoked seafood exported from Australia to India. The certificate is a standard FX 46 with endorsement number: 3973; Exporters should contact AQIS to have this set up as a default for your products if exporting to India.

All AQIS registered land based establishments and vessels which undertake processing, as defined in the 'Export Control (Fish and Fish Products) Orders 2005' are eligible to export to India. Amendments to your AA to include new requirements for India as an export destination may be required – please discuss with your local inspector.

Important note: Live product cannot be exported to India. You will be advised if access for live product is granted following further negotiations with Indian authorities.
