Fees and charges: Export of fish and fish products and eggs and egg products

AQIS Export Notice

Export fees and charges 1 January 2012

Implementation of key reforms under the Export Certification Reform Package (ECRP) established by government in 2009 is now underway. This phase is called Export Reform Certification Implementation (ECRI). Over the next few months there will be progressive changes to the service delivery models across the agricultural export industries that have been included in the reform program.

New arrangements for the seafood and egg export industries have been developed through the Fish Ministerial Taskforce (MTF). The export seafood and egg industries transitioned to their new service delivery models on 1 January 2012.  The new models provide for a more streamlined and efficient inspection and audit system utilising Approved Auditors.

The new fees and charges applying from 1 January 2012 are a critical element of the reforms as they support the new service delivery arrangements. The main benefits include changes to registration which are more risk-focussed and streamlined; flexibility in charging to suit the new service delivery model; and providing an equitable distribution of these benefits.

In addition to service delivery reforms, some key outcomes of the ECRP for the fish sector will assist industry with more informed business decisions, such as the development of the new trade statistics database and the extension of the current market access database to provide additional market requirements.

The Fish MTF has now finished its work and future engagement between the seafood and egg export sectors and the department will revert to the traditional consultative process of Seafood Export Consultative Committee (SECC).

The fees and charges that apply to the export of Fish and Fish products and Egg and Egg products from 1 January 2012 are the current fees and are provided in Attachment A.

Associated Charging Guidelines are available on the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry website
