How to complete the Application to Import Cats and Dogs
Please complete one application form for each cat or dog
There are now more options for completing and submitting the Application to Import Cats and Dogs:
1. Complete and submit application form online (eLodgement)
The Application to Import Cats and Dogs can now be submitted and paid for electronically, within our secure environment. The application form is made up of 3 steps: Step 1 requires importer and exporter details, Step 2 requires animal details, Step 3 requires importer declaration and payment details.
Please note: If you are submitting an application form online, payment must be made by credit card. The minimum fee for online lodgement is $75.00 and other charges will apply. Please refer to the Charging Schedule for Import Permit Applications to ensure you have authorised sufficient payment.

Payment
Processing of your application form will not begin until the correct fee is paid in full. The owner/importer is responsible for all quarantine fees associated with the import and quarantine accommodation of cats and dogs.

In order to receive the reduced permit fee (for two or more animals) the importer, exporter and country of export details must be the same for each animal. If any of these details are different, a separate application must be submitted for each animal and the full fee (manual lodgement and assessment fee) must be paid. |

You can pay for the processing of your manual application in one of the following ways:
- Download the Credit Card Payment Form PDF [37kb] Word [131kb]
- Post a bank cheque payable to the 'Collector of Public Monies, DAFF'. This must be in Australian dollars.
Submitting the application form with payment
Prior to lodging your application with AQIS, please review the how to complete the import application page to ensure all information is completed correctly.
AQIS aims to approve all import permit applications within 10 working days, provided that all required information has been received at the time of submission. The omission of any required information will result in an extended processing period. Please allow additional time for the import permit/s to be received by fax or delivered by mail.
