Guidelines for the use of imported biologicals in non-laboratory animals

AQIS uses the Quarantine Approved Premises (QAP) system to manage the risk associated with importation of many commodities.

The Biologicals Program uses this system by occasionally placing conditions on permits that specify the imported biologicals are to be contained and/or used only at a QAP. The system requires some institutions (ie. those using imported biological products in non-laboratory animals, or those using them to manufacture materials intended for use in animals) to become a QAP.
