The Scheme: Onshore Quarantine Fumigation Perishable Goods Scheme
The Onshore Quarantine Fumigation Perishable Goods Scheme is a Compliance Agreement that allows accredited fumigators to perform onshore quarantine fumigation treatment of perishable goods (fresh fruit and vegetables, nursery stock and fresh cut flowers, including foliage), under direction from AQIS using methyl bromide. It includes:
- assessing the goods as being suitable for fumigation with methyl bromide
- performing and monitoring the fumigation treatment in accordance with the AQIS publication Treatments and Fumigants—AQIS Methyl Bromide Fumigation Standard
Under the Scheme, certain prerequisites must be met by the Other Party before becoming a signatory to the Scheme:
- The Other Party must successfully pass an initial audit against requirements of the Scheme.
- The Other Party must employ or utilise a minimum of one accredited person to carry out the activities specifically designated to an accredited person within the Onshore Quarantine Fumigation Perishable Goods Scheme Operational Procedures Statements (OPS).
- The Onshore Quarantine Fumigation Scheme is a prerequisite for the Onshore Quarantine Fumigation Perishable Goods Scheme.
