Notice to Industry 6/2009- AQIS Offshore Machinery Inspection Capacity- May/June 2009

Background

AQIS will have a significant number of officers conducting offshore inspections for cargo utilised in the bi-annual military exercise Talisman Saber 2009 (TS09).

The inspection activity will occur during the months of May and June 2009.

During this period AQIS will have limited capacity to service offshore machinery inspection requests that coincide with these dates.

What can Industry do?

Machinery importers, brokers, freight forwarders and relevant stakeholders are advised to note the constraints on offshore inspection requests for the months of May and June 2009 and plan accordingly.

Machinery importers are reminded to ensure all machinery consignments meet the AQIS import conditions before shipment to Australia and to apply for relevant quarantine import permits before shipping cargo.
