Christmas and Cocos Islands Legislation
As part of the Government's mainstreaming policy for the Indian Ocean Territories, amendments to the Quarantine Act (1908) have been passed by Parliament to extend the Act's jurisdiction to Christmas Island in the same way as it currently deals with Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
This amendment allows for separate quarantine regimes to the mainland to be maintained on both islands.
