Offshore pre-shipment inspections of used machinery and equipment

DAFF will assess and may conduct offshore pre-shipment inspections upon request by a client, if it is determined that the biosecurity risk associated with machinery being imported is too great to be managed exclusively in Australia.

An offshore pre-shipment inspection is not a biosecurity clearance, but is designed to minimise the DAFF inspection requirements on arrival in Australia. The machinery and equipment will still be subject to a verification inspection upon arrival into Australia to ensure the goods arrive in a condition free from biosecurity risk material.
