Future Post Entry Quarantine Arrangements
Overview
AQIS currently leases and operates five post entry quarantine facilities for imported live animals and plants. Existing facilities are located on leased sites which will not be available in the medium to long term, and this provides AQIS with a unique opportunity to consider operational, ownership and location requirements for future post entry quarantine services.
Through the 2011-12 Budget the Australian Government has provided funding to undertake work to repair and maintain existing facilities.
The Government has also funded further development of future arrangements, including detailed design work, site assessment and related procurement activities.
