Welcome to the Biosecurity Services Group, of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. The Biosecurity Services Group integrates the functions of the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service; Biosecurity Australia; the Product Integrity, Animal and Plant Health division; and the Quarantine and Biosecurity Policy Unit. The new structure will lead to better service delivery along the biosecurity continuum (pre-border, border and post-border) and improved biosecurity risk management.

The branch is responsible for coordinating and developing new biosecurity legislation to replace the existing Quarantine Act 1908 in line with the recommendations of the independent review of Australia's quarantine and biosecurity system.

The branch provides policy support for implementation of new governance and institutional arrangements to deliver biosecurity and quarantine services as recommended by the independent review of Australia's quarantine and biosecurity system, including the proposed national biosecurity commission.
