The tables contain revised information from Australian Fisheries Resources that covered species with catches greater than 100 tonnes or value greater than $A1 million.
The revised entries have been drawn from a range of sources, many identified during a Bureau of Rural Sciences – Fisheries Research and Development Corporation project to update material in Australian Fisheries Resources for inclusion on FishBase – the International Center for Aquatic Living Marine Resources – Food and Agriculture Organization’s electronic encyclopedia on fish.
Some entries, especially for cosmopolitan species, have been retrieved directly from FishBase. Other information was updated from information provided by specialists.
The tables should be regarded only as indicative comparative summaries of information on the various species fished in Australia.
