Meet a winner of the Science and Innovation Awards

Nicholas Hudson

Nicholas Hudson,
2008 Meat & Livestock Australia Award Winner,
Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Award Winner.

'Research funds are hard to come by and awards like this which support up-and-comers are extremely valuable. Preparing the application and subsequently working on the project has certainly motivated and focussed my research efforts. My advice to potential applicants is to try and grab these sorts of opportunities with both hands! They might make all the difference.'
 -  Nicholas Hudson.

Jennifer Firn

Jennifer Firn,
2007 Science and Innovation Award Winner.

'Being selected as the Queensland winner of the Science and Innovation award 2007 allowed me to purchase equipment and use facilities I otherwsie would not have been able to afford when completing a key experiment during my PhD reseach. This was instrumental in helping me develop an innovative research record and a track record in procuring funding, which all in turn helped me to find employment after my PhD, a three-year postdoctoral fellowship with CSIRO Sustainable Ecosystems.'
