Nineteen case studies and DVDs on the Australian Government’s Climate Change Research Program (CCRP) are now available for land managers involved or interested in carbon farming. CCRP media releases are also available to download.
The CCRP was a significant research effort aimed at providing practical solutions for our primary industries to adapt to the changing climate and respond to climate change policy.
The program has provided funding for research projects and on-farm demonstration activities under the three priority areas of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving soil management and research into adaptation management practices.
The CCRP has laid the vital groundwork for further research, demonstration and extension that will now occur through the government’s $429 million Carbon Farming Futures Program.
The materials provide practical examples for land managers and demonstrate the government’s commitment to investing in public research.
Climate change poses challenges for all sectors of the Australian economy but particularly for those sectors dependent on natural resources, like agriculture and forestry.
Australia’s climate is changing and the impacts of climate change can be seen in the differences we are experiencing in rainfall, temperature and extreme weather events. Climate change will influence our actions, choices and decisions.
The Climate Change Division of the Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry manages Australian Government policies and programs to help primary industries and producers make choices and decisions to adapt and respond to climate change.
