Recreational Fishing Community Grants Program Ceased on 30 June 2010

The $15 million Recreational Fishing Community Grants Program (RFCGP), funded five separate rounds between October 2005 and May 2007.  All of the 396 approved pojects, totalling $14,964,164, have now been finalised.

The Program provided support to local initiatives to enhance the recreational fishing experience, increase participation and capture the flow-on benefits to the economy, particularly smaller local economics.

The program invested in a broad range of activities, including improvements to infrastructure; restocking waterways; protection of the environment at the water’s edge; establishment and upgrade of volunteer marine rescue groups and associated infrastructure; education and awareness raising projects; monitoring programs; tagging projects and data collection.
