Recreational Fishing Advisory Committee Terms of Reference

The role of the RFAC is to:

• provide effective and coordinated advice to the government, through the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, on the development of the recreational fishing industry, including the provision of advice on:
  
  
• • the relevance of the 1994 National Recreational Fishing Policy to a contemporary recreational fishing industry
  • the development of a Recreational Fishing Industry Development Policy and
  • specific initiatives to encourage the promotion of sustainable fishing, education and awareness for children and angler communities, and best practice environmental standards for recreational fishing.
    
    
• work with the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation and other research/grant providers to implement initiatives for sustainable recreational fishing
  
  
• consider options for improved and ongoing consultation and interaction between the recreational sector and government.
