Business Exit Assistance - Fishing Concession Voluntary Surrender
The Australian Government has now completed the Business Exit Assistance - Fishing Concession Voluntary Surrender component of the Securing our Fishing Future package.
What is Securing our Fishing Future
The $220 million 'Securing our Fishing Future' package was announced in November 2005 and is designed to deliver profitable and sustainable Commonwealth fisheries for the future. This is the most significant financial contribution to the Australian fishing industry ever made by the Australian Government.
The package includes three key features:

The Australian Fisheries Management Authority will introduce new fisheries management actions to ensure Commonwealth-managed fisheries remain sustainable.

- The Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the South-east Marine Region which have been developed by the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts to protect marine biodiversity.
- DAFF is responsible for the development of policy and administration of the $220 million fisheries structural adjustment package. This includes elements of the 'Securing our Fishing Future' package such as: Business Exit Assistance, Business Advice Assistance, Assistance for Skippers and Crew, Onshore Business Assistance, Fishing Community Assistance and the AFMA Levy Subsidy.
